Basketball Recap: Aniak Comes Up Short

Aniak was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 56-53 heartbreaker at the hands of the Kalskag Grizzly Bears. The matchup was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but the Halfbreeds couldn't quite close it out.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kalskag to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emily Evan, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rose Kameroff, who scored 16 points.

Aniak's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Kalskag, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-3.

Looking ahead, Aniak will take on Tuluksak on Saturday. As for Kalskag, they have already played their next contest, a 50-42 win against Akiak on the 13th.
