Soccer Game Preview: Cyprus vs. West

The Cyprus Pirates will venture away from home to take on the West Panthers at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Cyprus' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Cyprus fought the good fight in their overtime game against Granger on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 1-0.

Meanwhile, West gave up the first goal on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Panthers who were credited with the victory. West got it done in the shootout by posting 11 goals to Highland's ten. The win continues a trend for West in their matchups with Highland: they've now won eight in a row.

West's one-goal win came courtesy of Eric Da La Paz, which was the first he's scored this season.

Cyprus' loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for West, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
