Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Madaline Garcia-Ortiz and Emma Martinez Lead Manual to Victory

After losing to DSST: Montview the last time they met, Manual decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Thunderbolts came out on top against the Knights by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Thunderbolts.

Manual had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 27-25.

Manual was led to victory by Emma Martinez and Madaline Garcia-Ortiz. Martinez had 20 assists, while Garcia-Ortiz had seven digs and three aces. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: Manual was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. They served two more aces than DSST: Montview's also-impressive total of ten.

When it comes to explaining why DSST: Montview lost, don't look at Anel Arroniz. Despite the final result, she had 18 digs and one assist.

Manual's victory bumped their record up to 5-14. As for DSST: Montview, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

As of now, neither Manual nor DSST: Montview have any future games scheduled.
