Baseball Game Preview: Allegany Campers vs. Frankfort Falcons

The Allegany Campers will face off against the Frankfort Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Last Wednesday, Allegany came up short against Northern Garrett and fell 6-1. The game marked the Campers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Frankfort came tearing into Friday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Yellow Jackets a 15-0 shutout. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by eight runs or more this season.

Lane Lease was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Nething, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Blake Jacobs, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Frankfort always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Frankfort pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Allegany, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Everything went Allegany's way against Frankfort in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Allegany made off with an 18-6 victory. Will the Campers repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
