Basketball Game Preview: Burlingame Panthers vs. Carlmont Scots

The Burlingame Panthers will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against the Carlmont Scots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

It was a proper cat-fight when Burlingame duked it out withSan Mateo on Saturday. Burlingame fell 49-41 to San Mateo. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 627th, while the Bearcats are ranked 308th).

Meanwhile, Carlmont entered their contest against Milpitas on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Carlmont fell just short of Milpitas by a score of 50-48. The Scots just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Burlingame's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Carlmont, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-7.

Burlingame came up short against Carlmont in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 50-37. Can Burlingame avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
