Softball Recap: Village Christian Comes Up Short

Village Christian dropped their record down to 10-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Valley Christian Defenders, falling 13-2. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Crusaders couldn't push the score so high this time.

Leah Mosley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Valley Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. The result was nothing new for Valley Christian, who have now won 11 games by ten runs or more so far this season.

On Valley Christian's side, Rachel Zhang spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Valley Christian got a massive performance out of Peyton Kingery, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Kingery has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Ramirez, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.

Village Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Valley Christian, they will welcome Maranatha at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Defenders are facing the Minutemen at the right time seeing as the Minutemen are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
