Baseball Recap: South Sumter Takes Down Astronaut in a Playoff Battle

South Sumter had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Astronaut War Eagles 7-0 on Monday. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Colter Shea looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Gabe Sabilona was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Ryan Ogden was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

South Sumter hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Astronaut struck out nine times.

The win was the eighth in a row for South Sumter, bringing their record up to 21-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Astronaut, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.

South Sumter will have a chance to go back-to-back against the War Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
