League recap: Sheridan/Sheridan Japanese's Edwards delivers best pitching performance from past week

3A West Valley league recap: 3/27/13

Kyle Edwards was the top pitcher in 3A West Valley this week, leading Sheridan/Sheridan Japanese. He struck out eight batters this week.

Amity made the biggest jump in the standings this week, moving from seventh to second place in the league thanks to a 1-0 record over the past seven days. Meanwhile, Dayton fell hardest in the standings, dropping from second all the way to fourth place after going 0-1 in the past week. Horizon Christian (4-0, 1-0) is the No. 1 team in the league.

The Spartans boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

Sheridan/Sheridan Japanese stole 16 bases this week, adding to its league-leading 29 steals on the year.



The week's strikeout crown belonged to Edwards, who turned in eight Ks for the Spartans. With 14 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.
