Preview: Compass Rose Legacy Polar Bears vs. Founders Classical Academy Hoplites
Compass Rose Legacy has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Friday. They will take on the Founders Classical Academy Hoplites at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Thursday, Compass Rose Legacy made easy work of McCauley Christian Academy and carried off a 67-42 win.
Meanwhile, Founders Classical Academy didn't have too much trouble with New Braunfels T at home on Thursday as they won 56-39. Given Founders Classical Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while New Braunfels T is ranked 1150th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Founders Classical Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonas Merxbauer, who scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Merxbauer is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now stole two or more in the last three games he's played. Joshua Syverson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Compass Rose Legacy's win bumped their season record to 3-1 while McCauley Christian Academy's loss dropped theirs to 0-2.
Things could have been worse for Compass Rose Legacy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-48 loss to Founders Classical Academy when the teams last played back in November. Can Compass Rose Legacy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
