Baseball Recap: Ellicott Thunderhawks vs. Buena Vista Demons
Ellicott extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 4-16-1 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Buena Vista Demons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Demons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 on Saturday.
As for Buena Vista, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by nine runs or more this season.
For Buena Vista's part, the team relied heavily on Trey Cardwell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. The Demons are undefeated when Cardwell posts three or more RBI, but 7-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Stromer, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Ellicott does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Buena Vista, they will venture away from home to take on Clear Creek at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. The Golddiggers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.79 runs per game on average), something the Demons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
