Basketball Recap: Logan Mestas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverdale Ridge over Brighton

Riverdale Ridge was the 60-56 winner over Brighton when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Riverdale Ridge Ravens fell to the Brighton Bulldogs 58-53.

Several Ravens players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Logan Mestas, who went 5-for-9 en route to 15 points. Mestas is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 56% in the last three games he's played. Amauri Lucero was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 11 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

It was another big night for Austin Sickler, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds for Brighton. Those 13 boards gave Sickler a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vance Martinez, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.

Riverdale Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Brighton, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.

Riverdale Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 67-55 defeat against Boulder on the 13th. As for Brighton, they have also already played their next game, a 63-58 loss against Westminster on the 13th.
