Basketball Game Preview: Alexandria Trojans vs. Carencro Bears

The Alexandria Trojans will face off against the Carencro Bears on Tuesday. Alexandria is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.8 points per game this season.

Alexandria is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Jena: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Alexandria's way against Jena last Friday as Alexandria made off with a 75-50 win. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Giants: they've now won four in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alexandria to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jarvell Bordelon, who went 9-for-16 to rack up 20 points and six rebounds. Bordelon is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 54% in the last seven games he's played. Tyshawn Duncan was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 20 points and nine boards.

Alexandria smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Carencro had no trouble coming through when it counted. They secured a 54-49 W over Captain Shreve on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Bears' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Gators are ranked 40th).

The victory made it two in a row for Carencro and bumps their season record up to 16-25. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points over those games. As for Alexandria, their win bumped their record up to 26-7.

Alexandria came up short against Carencro in their previous meeting back in November of 2018, falling 41-29. Can Alexandria avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
