Sayville had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 61-33 win over the Miller Place Panthers. The victory was familiar territory for the Golden Flashes who have now won seven games in a row dating back to last season.

Despite the defeat, Miller Place had strong showings from Julie Orenzo, who posted 11 points in addition to six boards and five steals, and Ava Zicchinelli, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Miller Place is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Sayville will host Kings Park at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Miller Place, they will challenge Port Jefferson at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
