Basketball Recap: Blake Peterson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Panguitch

Wayne hadn't done well against Panguitch recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Badgers managed a 57-51 win over the Bobcats. For the Badgers, this counts as revenge for the 70-45 victory the Bobcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.

Wayne's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Blake Peterson, who went 10-for-16 en route to 25 points. The contest was Peterson's eighth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Robins, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards.

When it comes to explaining why Panguitch lost, don't look at Trenton Virga. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Virga is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least 11 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Walter, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 13 points and five rebounds.

Wayne now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Panguitch, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne will host Altamont at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Panguitch, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Tintic at 6:00 p.m.
