Soccer Recap: Bonita Springs' Higher State Rank on Full Display on Wednesday

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bonita Springs walked away with it. Their defense stepped up to hand the Lemon Bay Manta Rays a 2-0 shutout on Wednesday. Given the Bullsharks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Manta Rays are ranked 269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Carson McManaway and Kevin Villatoro scored both of Bonita Springs' goals, bringing their combined season tally to 26 goals.

Bonita Springs' win bumped their record up to 13-4-1. As for Lemon Bay, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10-3.

Bonita Springs is taking a road trip to face off against Naples at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Naples will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Bonita Springs surely won't give up without a fight. Lemon Bay does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
