Central Valley's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Anderson Cubs with a sharp 28-2 victory. Considering the Falcons have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Joleen Short was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Central Valley got a massive performance out of Ava Lanzit, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI. Those four stolen bases gave Lanzit a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hazel Chavez, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with five stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI.
Central Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anderson only posted a batting average of .062.
Central Valley's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Anderson, they dropped their record down to 1-17 with the loss, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season.
