Volleyball Recap: Waynesville Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Waynesville hadn't done well against Rolla recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bulldogs 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since September 20th.

Waynesville had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-15, 25-20.

Alayna Barkley paced Waynesville's offense, picking up 15 kills. Barkley got some help from Jaylee Gettys and her 15 assists. Gettys was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

The win (which was Waynesville's third in a row) raised their record to 16-9-3. As for Rolla, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Waynesville and Rolla will both be playing St. Clair the next time they take the court. The Tigers will head out to face the Bulldogs at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, while the Bulldogs will play them later in the day, at 10:30 a.m.
