Volleyball Recap: River City Takes a Loss

River City entered their match against Vanden on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Raiders fell 3-1 to the Vikings. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 back in March.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Vanden scored at least 21 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-23, 17-25, 25-21.

Vanden was led to victory by Vincent Mercado and Jonah Victorio. Mercado had 14 digs and one assist, while Victorio had three digs and two aces. That's the most digs Mercado has posted over his last 12 contests.

River City's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Vanden, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

River City will be playing at home against Wood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Vanden, they will head out on the road to take on Davis Sr. at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
