Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Norwalk's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Norwalk put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They never let the Firebaugh Falcons get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Not much got past Cesar Urueta, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Firebaugh off the board. Urueta has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dominic Castillo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Hector Alvarado, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Norwalk was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Firebaugh only posted a batting average of .091.

Norwalk is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Firebaugh, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Norwalk will have a chance to go back-to-back against Firebaugh: the pair will be back at it again later today.
