Basketball Recap: Paulding County Falls Despite Big Games from Alexus Wilson and Hope Johnson

After flying high against South Cobb last Tuesday, Paulding County came back down to earth. The Paulding County Patriots lost 69-44 to the Hillgrove Hawks on Friday. The Patriots have struggled against the Hawks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Paulding County had strong showings from Hope Johnson, who went 6 of 11 en route to 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Alexus Wilson, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 17 points. Wilson's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Kierra Jackson had a dynamite game for Hillgrove, putting up 22 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. With that strong performance, Jackson is now averaging an impressive 2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Harris, who posted 11 points along with eight assists and six steals.

Paulding County's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Hillgrove, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Paulding County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 61-49 loss against Campbell on the 4th. As for Hillgrove, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-19 victory against South Cobb on the 4th.
