Recap: Colleton County Cougars vs. Irmo Yellowjackets
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Colleton County Cougars, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They were dealt a 85-0 defeat at the hands of Irmo on Friday. While losing is never fun, Colleton County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Irmo is ranked fourth).
Leading Irmo to victory were Jaden Allen-hendrix and Aaron (AJ) Brand Jr.. Allen-hendrix gained 185 total yards and four touchdowns, while Brand Jr. threw for 277 yards and six touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes. Brand Jr. is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Donovan Murph was in the mix as well, providing Irmo with two touchdowns.
Colleton County's defeat was their fourth straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 2-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 11-0 James Island and 8-2 Woodland (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 79.1% over those games). As for Irmo, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Colleton County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Irmo will face off against Myrtle Beach at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Myrtle Beach is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
