Baseball Recap: Citrus Valley Gets the Win

Citrus Valley won the last time they faced Rancho Cucamonga and things went their way on Monday too. The Blackhawks had just enough and edged out the Cougars 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blackhawks have posted since April 8, 2025.

Nolan Tornberg got the start for Citrus Valley and what a start it was: he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Citrus Valley's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tristan Garcia-Rojas, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Garcia-Rojas has posted since back in February of 2025. Nathan Castillo also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Citrus Valley's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Rancho Cucamonga, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Citrus Valley will square off against Colony at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Titans will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Blackhawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rancho Cucamonga, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-2 victory against Ramona on the 10th.
