Softball Recap: Nature Coast Tech Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Nature Coast Tech took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Dunnellon, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Nature Coast Tech had just enough and edged out Dunnellon 7-6 on Wednesday. For the Sharks, this counts as revenge for the 19-9 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2019.

Kamryn Ross spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Haley Keane, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Nature Coast Tech is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. Dunnellon's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nature Coast Tech will square off against Zephyrhills at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Nature Coast Tech is facing Zephyrhills at the right time seeing as Zephyrhills is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Dunnellon, they will challenge Williston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dunnellon's pitchers better be ready for this one: Williston has averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
