Basketball Game Preview: Grant Lancers vs. University Wildcats

The Grant Lancers and the University Wildcats will face off at 8:30 a.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Grant saw some tournament action on Thursday. They took a 45-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Heritage Christian. The defeat continues a trend for the Lancers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Anthonella Bitoka, who posted eight points along with five boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (four). Maria Fernandez was another key player, going 5 for 9 on her way to 10 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, University was beaten by Shalhevet 56-26 on Thursday. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grant now has a losing record at 1-2. As for University, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
