Basketball Recap: Mount Olive Pirates vs. Mississippi School for the Deaf Bulldogs
Mount Olive was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 33-32 heartbreaker at the hands of the Mississippi School for the Deaf Bulldogs. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 36-32 two weeks ago.
Mississippi School for the Deaf's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jarmariah Johnson, who posted 12 points. That's the most points Johnson has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Chyler Thomas, who scored eight points.
Mount Olive's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Mississippi School for the Deaf, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mount Olive will venture away from home to square off against Stringer at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mississippi School for the Deaf, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Leake County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
