Volleyball Recap: John Paul the Great Academy Falls to Midstate Homeschool in First Game of Season

John Paul the Great Academy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 3-1 to the Midstate Homeschool Storm on Friday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

While John Paul the Great Academy ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19.

John Paul the Great Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophie Cazayoux, who had seven aces and three digs. Therese Friddell was another key player, getting six digs and five kills.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. John Paul the Great Academy is set to take on their familiar foe Christian Home Educators Fellowship at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Midstate Homeschool will square off against rival NELA Christian Homeschool at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
