Softball Game Preview: North Sanpete Hawks vs. Springville Red Devils

The North Sanpete Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Springville Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Springville took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on North Sanpete, who comes in off a win.

North Sanpete was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Canyon View on Tuesday. North Sanpete put the hurt on Canyon View with a sharp 14-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won three contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Shea Rawlinson made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Rawlinson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylee Stewart, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Alivia Madsen was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Springville and Payson, and Payson kept the tradition alive. Springville fell just short of Payson by a score of 12-11 on Tuesday. The loss was the Red Devils' first of the season.

Jaz Ciliezar made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Haveron, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

North Sanpete's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Springville, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
