Vance Charter is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Falls Lake just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 9-3 to the Firebirds. The game marked the Knights' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Katelin Guerrant was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Puryear, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Guerrant wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Vance Charter lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, East Wake Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past American Leadership Academy-Johnston 14-4 back in February.

Vance Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for East Wake Academy, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
