Softball Recap: Independence's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Independence has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging three runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lexington Tigers. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Logan Riebe made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Maxon, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Lexington, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6-1.

Coming up, Independence will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Central Hardin at 3:00 p.m. As for Lexington, they will be taking part in a tournament against Bedford North Lawrence at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
