Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Chalene Granado and Jasmine Cortinas Lead Lopez to Victory

Lopez had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Harlingen South Hawks as they made off with a 3-0 win. Surprisingly, this marked the Lobos' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Lopez walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-14, 25-17.

Leading Lopez to victory were Jasmine Cortinas and Chalene Granado. Cortinas had 18 kills, 16 digs, and two aces, while Granado had 16 digs and two aces. That's the most aces Cortinas has posted over her last three matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephanie Ochoa, who had 14 digs.

Lopez's win bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Harlingen South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lopez will take on rival Edcouch-Elsa at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Harlingen South is set to square off against their familiar foe Donna at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
