Basketball Recap: Hartselle Takes a Loss

Hartselle has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gadsden City Titans. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Tigers came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 13th, while the Titans are ranked 92nd).

Gadsden City got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Destiny Whiteside out in front who went 5 of 11 en route to 11 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Wise, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Hartselle's loss dropped their record down to 22-5. As for Gadsden City, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-14.

Hartselle has already played their next contest (against Brooks), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Gadsden City has already played their next game, a 50-23 defeat against Plainview on the 28th.
