Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Roncalli Catholic

Roncalli Catholic extended their winning streak to three on Saturday, bumping them up to 13-3. They skirted past the Pius X Thunderbolts 63-60. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Crimson Pride's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 123rd).

As for Pius X, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since December 20, 2025.

Pius X's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Charlie Morrow, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 21 points and eight boards, and Jacob Markowski, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds. Morrow is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zach Taubenheim, who posted six points and five boards.

Looking ahead, Roncalli Catholic will face off against Ralston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pius X, they will be playing at home against Aurora at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
