Roosevelt takes loss despite strong efforts from Nolan Peterson and Seppe Salvatore

Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Thompson Valley Eagles

The Roosevelt Roughriders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 76-52 defeat at the hands of Thompson Valley. Roosevelt was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-14.

Despite the defeat, Roosevelt had strong showings from Seppe Salvatore, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 17 rebounds, and Nolan Peterson, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. Salvatore scored a full 46.2% of Roosevelt's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Roosevelt were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Brady Kennison continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Thompson Valley, dropping a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Kennison's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tom Mandeville, who scored 11 points along with four blocks.

Roosevelt's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Thompson Valley, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will be home for the holidays to greet Broomfield at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Broomfield knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Roosevelt likes a good challenge. Thompson Valley will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Riverdale Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
