Carson dropped down to 5-3 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Spanish Springs Cougars by a score of 7-5. The Colts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.
Letu'U Simi and Kiarah Chukwudi did some serious damage despite the final result: Simi went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Chukwudi went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Chukwudi is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Aleighna Matos also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
As for Spanish Springs, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.1 runs this season.
On Spanish Springs' side, Izzy Chisholm and Maleah Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Chisholm went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while Taylor went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave Chisholm a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Marshall, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Carson has already played their next contest, a 10-5 loss against Lehi on the 19th. As for Spanish Springs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 4-1 defeat against Christian on the 20th.
