Baseball Recap: Bishop O'connell Extends Winning Streak to Four

Bishop O'Connell had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Gonzaga Eagles. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by just one run.

Noah Haught made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

In other pitching news, Shota Fogus tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

Back at the plate, Truman Leckey was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Bishop O'Connell pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.67 runs across that stretch. As for Gonzaga, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.

Bishop O'Connell has already played their next matchup, a 16-1 win against The Heights on the 17th. As for Gonzaga, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 5-3 victory against St. Mary's Ryken on the 17th.
