Soccer Game Preview: Chapin vs. River Bluff

The Chapin Eagles will face off against the River Bluff Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Chapin sitting on four straight wins and River Bluff on seven.

Chapin is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Lexington, who was ranked 13th at the time (Chapin was ranked seventh). Chapin's defense stepped up to hand Lexington a 2-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Eagles' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Kat Haigler and Avery Stoner scored both of Chapin's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Meanwhile, River Bluff got the win against Irmo on Tuesday by a conclusive 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Gators, who have now won five matches by four goals or more so far this season.

Chapin pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those three games. As for River Bluff, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Chapin beat River Bluff 2-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Does Chapin have another victory up their sleeve, or will River Bluff turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
