Basketball Recap: Wheaton Takes a Loss

If Wheaton was feeling good fresh off their 72-29 takedown of Verona on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs took a 73-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Purdy Eagles on Wednesday. The Bulldogs lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 75-42 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Wheaton lost, don't look at Brody Bateman. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Bateman's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Yeshua Cha, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 11 points and five boards.

Wheaton now has a losing record of 1-2.

Wheaton and Purdy will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Bulldogs see the court they'll take on Sheldon at 6:00 p.m. on December 8. As for Purdy, their break will end when they face Sparta at 6:00 p.m. on December 9.
