Football Recap: Cheraw Drops Highest Score of Season Against Genoa-Hugo

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cheyenne Wells, Cheraw was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 62-44 victory over the Genoa-Hugo Pirates. The Wolverines' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Cheraw, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of William Ledbetter, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Genoa-Hugo still got an impressive performance from Clint Hale, who picked up 33 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Cheraw's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Genoa-Hugo, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cheraw will take on Eads at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Genoa-Hugo, they will be playing at home against Flagler at 1:00 p.m. on October 4. The Pirates' defense better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 32.5 points per game this season.
