Basketball Recap: Escambia Triumphs

Escambia won the last time they faced Pensacola and things went their way on Friday too. The Escambia Gators snuck past the Pensacola Tigers with a 49-45 win.

Despite the loss, Pensacola saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Khylen Eccles went 8 for 12 on his way to 19 points and seven boards. Those seven rebounds gave Eccles a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jamarcuz Fountain, who posted ten points and five assists.

Escambia's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Pensacola, they dropped their record down to 4-12 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Escambia will square off against Navarre at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Escambia is facing Navarre at the right time seeing as Navarre is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Pensacola, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Pensacola Tigers take on the West Florida Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
