Softball Recap: Peyton Conner Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Johnson Bayou

South Cameron won against Hathaway last Monday with 19 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Tarpons never let the Johnson Bayou Rebels get on the board and left with a 19-0 win. The Tarpons haven't had any issues with the Rebels recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

BreAnn Morales made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, South Cameron got a massive performance out of Peyton Conner, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Claire Baccigalopi was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

South Cameron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .828. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

South Cameron's record now sits at 6-9. As for Johnson Bayou, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Cameron will head out to challenge Elton at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Johnson Bayou, they will venture away from home to square off against Hackberry at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season.
