Recap: Woonsocket Villa Novans vs. Mt. Pleasant Kilties

This season hasn't been kind to the Woonsocket Villa Novans, who are still winless after their 14th game. They took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mt. Pleasant. Woonsocket lost against Mt. Pleasant in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-26 score last time.

Woonsocket's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jelysa Moise, who scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moise has scored all season. Alanna Colon was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.

Woonsocket dropped their record down to 0-14 with that loss, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.8 points per game. As for Mt. Pleasant, their win ended a 14-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woonsocket will take on Mt. Hope at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Mt. Hope is ranked 34th, while Woonsocket is ranked 50th). As for Mt. Pleasant, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Chariho at 6:00 p.m.
