Basketball Recap: Gardiner Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 23-23 at halftime, Gardiner was not quite Brewer's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell 57-45 to the Brewer Witches. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Witches apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Owen Fullerton was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds for Brewer. That's the most points Fullerton has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ollie Higgins, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards.

Gardiner dropped their record down to 7-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Brewer, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Gardiner will square off against Nokomis at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Gardiner is facing Nokomis at the right time seeing as Nokomis is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Brewer, they will face off against Hampden at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Brewer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.2 points per game this season.
