Softball Game Preview: Sanger Apaches vs. Bullard Knights

Sanger hasn't had much luck against Bullard recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Apaches will host the Knights at 3:30 p.m. Sanger is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Sanger took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Madera, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Apaches' pitcher stepped up to hand the Coyotes a 2-0 shutout on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Apaches have posted since March 18th.

The result came thanks to Amber Estrada's shutout, as she gave up just four hits.

On the hitting side, Sanger's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emma Hernandez, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. Hernandez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Bullard made sure to put some runs up on the board against Edison on Friday. The Knights put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 10-0 victory.

Bullard has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Sanger, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Sanger beat Bullard 7-4 in their previous meeting last Friday. Do the Apaches have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
