Niagara Falls is 8-2 against Kenmore East since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wolverines will face off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Niagara Falls is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.7 runs per game this season.
Niagara Falls gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 27-4 margin over Lewiston-Porter. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Matthew Brydges and Ethan Copelin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Brydges tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Copelin pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Brydges has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Brydges went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Copelin got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Brydges has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Niagara Falls got a massive performance out of Anthony Savino, who got on base in four of his seven plate appearances with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Savino has posted since back in May of 2024. Andrew Brydges was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.
Niagara Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .712. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Kenmore East fell victim to Grand Island and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 14-0 to the Vikings. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Kenmore East saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samson Mayle, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Kenmore East's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Niagara Falls, their record now sits at 5-1.
Kenmore East's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Niagara Falls hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .385. It's a different story for Kenmore East, though, as they've only averaged .176. Will they be able to contain Niagara Falls' hitters?
Niagara Falls took their win against Kenmore East in their previous matchup last Tuesday by a conclusive 13-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
