Softball Recap: Hubbard Drops Season-High Score on Struthers

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hubbard). They never let the Struthers Wildcats get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won nine in a row.

Kaylee Schultz made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Hubbard let Layla Songer and Cara Green run wild. Songer went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Green went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs Green has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Gregory, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Hubbard was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .640. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Hubbard's record now sits at 13-9. As for Struthers, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hubbard beat the Wildcats by a score of 14-1 later that day.
