Softball Recap: North Comes Up Short

North and Fairfax pushed the score to 20-3 the last time they played Fairfax, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Mustangs fell just short of the Stampede by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since April 15, 2025.

North saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arianna Velasquez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases. Velasquez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for North and nudges their season record down to 4-9. As for Fairfax, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6.

While North had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
