Baseball Recap: Zachary Comes Up Short

Zachary dropped to 22-7 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 12-1 to the Catholic Bears. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Broncos have suffered since February 24th.

As for Catholic, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 28-4. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 17 games by six runs or more so far this season.

For Catholic's part, Lucas Lawrence looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Dekohta Jones was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayes Segar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Catholic will host Episcopal at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Zachary will be paying especially close attention to the Bears' contest: after the Bears face off against the Knights, they'll take on Zachary again at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
