Softball Recap: East Has No Trouble Against Sun Valley

East had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Sun Valley on Monday. The Vikings put the hurt on the Vanguards with a sharp 14-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ferri Ava was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Ava was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caelyn Rodriguez, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cross Daria, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

East lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

East pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sun Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.
