Basketball Game Preview: Walnut Wildcats vs. Belmont Cardinals

Walnut hasn't had much luck against Belmont recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Walnut Wildcats just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Belmont Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Walnut sitting on 11 straight wins and Belmont on eight.

On Monday, Walnut didn't have too much trouble with Wheeler as they won 53-38. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Eagles are ranked 119th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Belmont didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Olive Branch on Saturday, but they still walked away with a 71-66 victory.

Walnut's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-1. As for Belmont, their record is now 15-2.

Walnut came up short against Belmont when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 60-47. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Belmont's Hailey Ivey, who went 8 for 18 on her way to 17 points and five steals.
