Basketball Recap: East Carteret Comes Up Short

East Carteret was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 66-44 to the Northside - Pinetown Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-37 back in January.

Northside - Pinetown was led to victory by Malachi Moore and Zi'Mier Alexander. Moore went 10-for-16 en route to 26 points, while Alexander dropped a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Alexander is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 25 games he's played dating back to last season. Max Vansant was another key player, putting up four points and six steals.

East Carteret's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Northside - Pinetown, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Coming up, East Carteret will venture away from home to take on Southside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southside will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something East Carteret surely won't give up without a fight. Northside - Pinetown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
